GREAT BRITISH GOALTENDING CLINIC

Joe Watkins
Joe has 13 years of goaltending at the professional level. He has played in
the ECHL with the Bakersfield Condors in the USA along with playing at the
highest level of British ice hockey for a number of years. He played for the
Bracknell Bees during the Superleague era and also played with the
London Racers in the EIHL. He has spent time in Europe playing with the
Amsterdam Bulldogs and more recently played the Guildford Flames in the
EPL and helped them to the EPL title in 2008, being voted to the EPL Allstar
team along the way. Joe has been capped at all levels for Great Britain
playing for the senior team at World Championships and Olympic Qualifiers
since 1999. He has been coaching goalies for the last 13 years at hockey
camps and has been running the Great British Goaltending Clinic since
2001. Along with his knowledge and understanding of both the physical and
mental aspects of goaltending he brings a great enthusiasm to helping
young goalies develop and reach there potential. He now lives and coaches
in the USA and stays up to date with all new goaltending developments.

Dave Graham
Davey is an incredibly experienced goaltender and coach. He played at the highest level in
British Ice Hockey for over 15 years. He is currently the goalie coach and Assistant coach
for the Guildford Flames. He played for prestigious British clubs such as the Nottingham
Panthers for many years. He won various team and individual honours throughout his
career. He was also capped for Great Britain at senior level a number of times and played
in World Championships. Since retiring from playing Davey has gone on to become a head
coach at the senior level and has coached teams in the BNL and EPL . He has also been
involved and coached as part of the junior national programme. Davey has a vast amount
of goaltending experience and has been coaching goalies for over 20 years. He has seen it
and done it at every level of the game and pupils can learn so much from him because of
this!
Steven Wall
Steven has been playing at the BNL and EPL level for the
last 9 years. In 2008/09 he was Britains most successful
goalie winning the GRAND SLAM with the Peterborough
Phantoms putting in some simply outstanding
performances along the way. He has also won 3 cup in
previous years. Steven is currently the starting goalie for
the Peterborough Phantoms trying to help them defend
there titles in the EPL and also started numerous
games in 2008 for the EIHL Basingstoke Bison.. He has
a great butterfly style and is very affective in playing this
way. With butterfly being the most popular and common
style Steven can help young goalie's develop and
improve there goaltending. Steven's laid back and
friendly character ensure he is very easy to learn from.
Tom Watkins
Tom has been coaching on the GB Goalie Clinic since it started 8 years
ago. He offers a unique insight for goalies and allows us to help coach
goalies from a shooters perspective. His knowledge and ability of the
forward position allows him to give goalies tips on how best to stop the
opposition. He has been playing professional hockey for 15 seasons. In
his time he has played on numerous championship winning teams at
the top level of British ice hockey. As part of the all conquering Coventry
Blaze Tom helped them complete the Grand Slam in the EIHL in
2004/05. He has been capped at all levels for Great Britain and is very
highly regarded throughout the British Game. Tom has been a model
professional for the last 15 seasons and on top of being able to help
with on ice coaching he can offer excellent advice and training tips on
fitness and diet and what it takes to make it as a professional ice hockey
player.

Alex Mettam
Alex is a graduate of the Great British Goaltending
Clinic and has this is his 4th season coaching on
the camp. He is now one of the top young
prospects in the EPL plying his trade for the MK
Lightning. Alex is a great example to all young
goalies with a work ethic and love for the position
that is second to none. . Prior to stepping up to the
EPL Alex enjoyed good success at ENL level with
the Sheffield Spartans helping them to a ENL Cup
and Playoff double. Alex has also represented
Great Britain at the World University Games. Alex
was a great student and is a great coach at the
GBGC. He is one of the quickest and most agile
goalies in the UK today. With mobility a key part of
goaltending this makes him a huge asset to the
GBGC and he is keen to pass on some tips.
Gregg Rockman
Gregg is returning for his 4th year coaching at the Great
British Goaltending Clinic having shown what a valuable
coach he was in previous years. Gregg is a veteran in
the EPL having played several years at that level and
higher. He is currently the Slough Jets starting goalie
and is looking to backstop them to glory in 2010 having
won previous trophy's with the Bracknell Bees. He has
also played a number of games for the Cardiff Devils in
the EIHL this season impressing in his time there.
Gregg narrowly missed out on picking up his 1st GB
senior cap at the 2006 world championships being the
reserve goalie. He is one of the most technically sound
goalies ever to be produced in Great Britain. Gregg has
also been a coach at the very highly regarded John
Elkins Goalie school in Canada. He is very personable
and is very easy to learn from.
Tom is currently part of the goaltending
tandem for the Basingstoke Bison.
Having spent previous seasons with the
Bracknell Bees, Guildford Flames and
Slough Jets. Despite still only being in
his early 20's Tom has great experience
and is already an established EPL
goalie. He has a great natural ability and
understanding of the position. He plays to
his strengths and is a very intimidating
goalie for opposing shooters to face.
Tom has a bright future ahead of him and
is keen to help young goalies make them
step from junior hockey to senior hockey
like he did. He is a great asset to the GB
Goalie Clinic.
Dean Skinns
Dean is returning for his 4th year coaching at the
GBGC. Dean has a different style to our other coaches.
He is a smaller goalie but more than makes up for this
with his reactions, speed and agility around the net
which is 2nd to none in the EPL. Dean started his
senior career for the Basingstoke Bison in 2001 and
played for them in both the EIHL and the BNL. Dean
then moved to the Bracknell Bees and helped backstop
them to the EPL Cup in 05/06.He also helped the
Slough Jets win the playoff trophy in 2007/08. He is
currently part of the Guildford Flames goaltending
tandem. Dean offers our goalies yet another style and
technique to learn from.
Toby Cooley
Toby joined the GBGC coaching staff in 2008
and was an instant hit with the students,
parents and coaches. His enthusiasm is
limitless and he brings great experience
having coached for a number of years on the
John Elkins camp in Canada. Toby has spent
his career plying his trade for the Wightlink
Raiders in the EPL. He plays great read and
react goaltending and is always a thorn in the
side of team playing against him. We
welcome Toby back for the 2010 camp. Toby
is a student of the game and loves to pass on
his knowledge.
